Always on, helping colleagues and lending a hand.
Before joining Secon, Hannah worked as a receptionist and administrator. But when a former work colleague reached out saying there was a position as a finance assistant available at Secon, she jumped at the chance. Hannah said:
As we had worked together before, they knew my work ethic and that I was capable of learning quickly. I accepted and enjoyed the role, finding it challenging and engaging.
After a few years in the role, an opportunity came around for a monthly management account to join the team. Hannah decided to begin studying AAT and grow into the position herself.
“I enjoyed getting more involved in the daily finances with them and eventually decided to begin studying accountancy with AAT about two years in,” Hannah explained. “I passed AAT and moved on to CIMA, which I am currently three exams away from finishing.”
Taking her first finance assistant position within the department allowed Hannah to learn how to manage people. Now as Secon’s financial controller, Hannah’s role requires continuous growth because as Secon grows, so does her financial role. She says having to adjust to these changes keeps her on her toes.
Hannah is excited to continue her education with CIMA qualifications. She commented:
I intend to sit P3 in the remainder of 2022 and hopefully move on to my final two exams!
Hannah believes that everyone should always be willing to assist others. For Hannah, always on means “being available to my colleagues in Secon, and being able to lend a hand to other departments should they need it.”
