Security Product Operability Test (SPOT) Check
Introducing our new SPOT Check service
Despite investing in and deploying cyber security solutions, many organisations still end up being impacted by cyber attacks. In most, but not all, cases these organisations were impacted due to one simple fact: they had not followed cyber security best practice by applying the necessary patches and updates on their security solutions. In addition, these security solutions are rarely configured to properly filter or block malicious attacks.

With this in mind, Secon Cyber has created a service to help organisations get the most out of their security solutions and ensure they perform as intended, thereby reducing the risk of a security breach.

The SPOT (Security Product Operability Test) Check is designed to help customers understand how they can correctly utilise and maintain their security solutions according to vendor recommendations. This service is designed to be simple and quick to deploy.

The Secon Cyber SPOT Check team will assess the customer’s security solution using non-intrusive methods to establish whether it’s operating as intended. Following the assessment, Secon Cyber will issue a report with clearly stated recommendations to help the customer understand the risks and remedial actions they need to consider in order of priority.
What do you get?
The SPOT Check report typically covers the following areas when assessing the deployed security solution:
Product feature(s) utilisation
Current product version and build supportability from vendor
Upgrade path applied for each product as recommended by the vendor
Recommended resource(s) for the host (Physical, Virtual or Cloud)
Security product maintenance
Product incident handling, patching & upgrade, and issue resolution
Product incident handling, patching & upgrade, and issue resolution

SPOT Check +
The SPOT Check + service goes further by including the details of the SPOT Check findings as well as recommendations that the customer should consider to further exploit the investment in their security solution. In most cases, this will help the customer avoid spending more money on alternative security solutions for no real risk reduction.
